PADI Courses

Your Diving Adventure starts here!

Welcome to the best choice of your life! Below you will find different PADI courses that will suit your every need. All courses meet the highest standards of the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (if you can remember what PADI means, the Instructor will be impressed). The courses are taught by the leader of the Corona Divers himself: me. My name is Tim and I am a PADI Instructor providing you with a broad range of courses to select from. Although I’m always joking around and having a good time, I take diving safety procedures very seriously to make your experience as much fun, exciting, safe and comfortable as possible. My goal is not certifying as many divers as possible, as quickly as I can. If you do a course with me, you can be sure that I focus on teaching you to be a good diver and not an average diver that barely passed the tests. So, prepare for military-style drill training. We start when the sun rises and finish with 1000 push-ups when the sun sets! I’m kidding of course, you will have a great time and be able to dive anywhere around the world with confidence. What are you waiting for? The doors to another world are open, you just have to take a step and stand in awe at what nature has to offer.

The PADI Bubblemaker Program

Finding Nemo is a challenging activity, so prepare yourself by joining the Bubble Squad! In this course, kids, starting from the age of 8+, can experience under my direct supervision what it feels like to breathe underwater and swim around in shallow water! The Bubblemaker Program is excellent for events like a birthday party or for parties with your friends! In this program I will teach the very basics of Scuba Diving and equipment as well as a few do's and don'ts, with a focus on providing as much fun as possible. After an initial chat about Scuba gear the kids will get a chance to test it in a confined water area, like a pool or a shallow bay area in the sea (the maximum depth is 2 meters). Here we do skills, as well as fun games and fish finding challenges! It is an introduction for children to breathe underwater and see if they like it. The PADI Bubblemaker crew pack includes a kid-sized beach towel, logbook, certificate, temporary tattoo, decal and the cute little Bubblemaker water toy. And if your inner child decides to show up, the age limit starts at 8, but goes up indefinitely. There are never enough bubbles made!

The PADI Seal Team Program

The kids got a taste of what it is like to breathe underwater and are hooked? They simply cannot wait until they can do a full course? Or they just want a cool club to be a part of and have a good time with their friends? No problemo! PADI Seal Team to the rescue! In this awesome, action-packed program, kids from age 8+ get a chance to become young scuba divers by learning skills that even adults learn in their courses. These skills include, but are not limited to: how to equalize, how to recover your regulator, partially filled mask clearing, hovering (floating around like an astronaut) and much more! The program is built into segments called AquaMissions. All AquaMissions are done in a controlled and safe environment, namely a pool with a depth no greater than 4 meters. The first 5 AquaMissions teach basic scuba skills that can even be accounted to a PADI Open Water Diver Course when the time comes. Each AquaMission takes roughly an hour, although once they are underwater, it will be hard to get them out again… speaking from experience. Once these 5 AquaMissions are completed the kids get officially recognized as a PADI Seal Team member. However, if they want to continue, there is good news! There are an extra 10 Specialties, including Creature Identification Specialist, Navigation Specialist, Search and Recovery, Snapshot Specialist and more! If all 10 of these are completed, they officially become PADI Master Seal Team Members, how cool is that to brag about in school? It is a perfect start into the world of diving!

The PADI Discover Scuba Diving Program

You are not sure if you want to enroll for a full PADI course and just want to try how it feels to breathe underwater? Excellent! The PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience is perfect for you. In this course I will teach you the basics of scuba diving, the gear it involves and techniques for diving. You need to be at least 10 years old, be reasonably physically healthy and know the holy code of the Corona Divers (Wohoo, I saw a fish!). After a little chat on how to become a fish, we’ll hop into a pool or shallow confined water where we will perform some skills that are essential for every dive you will ever perform, such as mask clearing, regulator recovery and regulator clearing. Although there is the option to only perform the skills and call it a day, I personally always include a dive in open water, so you actually have a memorable experience and hopefully see a lot of interesting things. It’s my master plan to get you hooked on diving, I’m busted. Kidding, what I want you to take home from this experience is the fun and incredible variety diving offers to you and open the door (I know, I’m a Gentleman) to our magnificent aquatic world.

The Scuba Diver Course

Alright! We are reaching into serious business now! The PADI Scuba Diver course is just one step before your PADI Open Water Diver course. This course is ideal for people who have a small time frame but still want to be certified as a diver. It is also a great course if you plan to go diving only with a dive professional to a maximum depth of 12 meters. It can be described as an intermediate step to become an Open Water Diver. It involves knowledge developments (which can be done via e-learning as well) which include the first three chapters of the five from the Open Water Diver Course. As in all courses I will introduce you to the gear and explain the basics and a little more in-depth details about every part of the equipment before we hop into the water. We also have three confined water dives and two open water dives to develop your skills. I'm as flexible as an octopus, so I will try to help you in finding the course that best suits your time frame and general needs.

The PADI Open Water Diver Course

Ready for adventure? Ready for pain, sweat and insane amounts of fun? Of course you are! The PADI Open Water Diver course offers that and much more. To join the fun, you need to be at least 10 years old, swim without floaters (looks cute, but we are past that stage), and be medically fit for diving. This course is an awesome challenge with a fantastic reward: your official certification as a diver, with which you can go diving all around the world. In this course I will teach you how to become a diver. That’s a surprise, right? Let me walk you through it. There are three parts covered in this course:
  • Knowledge Developments: this is the diving theory part. You will read through your manual and answer some quick review questions, culminating in a final exam. You must score a minimum of 75% to pass, piece of cake! What I personally recommend is to study as much as possible at home (e-learning) and via independent study. That way, we save ourselves a lot of time, which we want to spend underwater. Of course, there will be discussions about any area you have doubts or have further questions about, my main goal is to reduce the classroom time, and increase the fun time!
  • Confined Water Dives: this is a secure and calm area for your first time hopping into the water. Usually this is a pool or a shallow water area. Here we will perform a whole bunch of skills and get you comfortable with your gear. I adapt to your pace and will walk with you all the way to the champion finishing line.
  • Open Water Dives: this is, as the name may indicate, open water. You will not be able to stand and will have the chance to deepen your skills as well as experience the true definition of diving. After every few skills in the Open Water Sessions (conditions allowing) I will take you on a little tour to explore the area. We will practice, practice, practice until I am sure that I can send you out in the big wide world… be free, my little seahorse! Kidding, my goal here is not only to give you the essential skills, but that realization of how privileged we are to be able to explore this wonderful aquatic world.

On another note, the PADI Open Water Diver Course may be accredited for a college credit in some colleges. Ask your corresponding counselors if this may apply to you.

The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Course

You mastered the Open Water Diver course and now proudly wave your dive certification card around? Good job! However, you may feel that there might be more when you hear about deep diving and wreck diving. To join in the fun you need to be at least 12 years old and be certified as an Open Water Diver. The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver Course is designed to improve on your already existing skills, expand your diving knowledge theory-wise, as well as introduce you to new challenges, opportunities and adventures. In this course we will focus on underwater navigation and deep diving, as well as fine-tune your buoyancy. The best part in my opinion is that you get to choose 3 different diving activities that will introduce you to new environments and exciting adventures. These include, but are not limited to, wreck diving, deep diving and night diving. Let me walk you through how this course is structured:
  • Knowledge Developments: in this part you will read through your manual, answer the quick chapter reviews after each, BUT there is no final exam for you in this course! You will once again have the option to do it via e-learning and independent study, which in my opinion is the best approach. Of course, we will discuss any questions, doubts, concerns or other topics you would like more information about.
  • Open Water Dives: we will do a total of five dives in this course. One is specifically designed for deep diving, meaning that the maximum depth will be 30 meters. The second dive will be underwater navigation, where we will go in depth on how to go from completely lost, to “I just took a shortcut.” Then we come to your three selected dives, which are called "adventure dives." More details about each will be discussed during the course itself.
So, what is stopping you? New adventures await, my friend! Remember to always widen your horizon. If you are interested in the different PADI specialties, all of these adventure dives, navigation, deep and your selected 3 may be counted as your first dive in the specific specialty.

The PADI Advanced Open Water Diver may also be applicable to earn a college credit. Be sure to check with your respective counselor if you may apply for this.

The PADI Rescue Diver Course

Are you worried about the safety of your loved ones? Do you have doubts on how to react in an emergency situation correctly? In that case, I welcome you to the PADI Rescue Diver Course! In this special course you will learn to respond to a very important question: “what should I do if or when…?” Diving, as you might have learned through your previous courses, always bears a certain amount of risk, however, there are always ways to reduce the risk in the first place. In this course I will teach you what you can do to prevent, manage and handle a diving accident in the unlikely (diving accidents are thankfully very rare) event it occurs. It will also boost your confidence as a diver and increase your awareness of situations and possible threats. So, what do you need to start? Be at least 12 years old, be a certified Advanced Open Water Diver, and have Emergency First Care and Secondary Care Training completed in the past 24 months. You can also do the Emergency First Response and Secondary Care course with me and I integrate it into your Rescue Diver package for an additional fee. I honestly recommend doing the EFR course with me so you are refreshed on your knowledge. You will feel it’s much easier if you have a little background already before we focus on diving specific scenarios. So, an overview of what we’ll do.
  • EFR Training or a quick review if you still know what to do in an emergency.
  • Knowledge Developments: the theory part. You will have a manual and chapter review questions as you may know them already from previous courses (if you did them by PADI). Every question you have doubts about or would like more information about… we ignore completely and keep to the schedule. Kidding, I’ll be happy to answer every question you may have. After you are all clear you will have a written exam, 75% is the minimum score. You got this!
  • Scenario practices in open water: we may practice some of the scenarios in confined water like a pool or bay, but all scenarios will be done in open water in the end. Which makes it more challenging and realistic. We will practice techniques such as self-rescue, recognizing and managing stress in other divers, emergency management and equipment handling, rescuing panicked divers, rescuing unresponsive divers and more!
This course teaches how to react to very life-threatening situations, that does not mean however that we have to wear a Superman shirt, where the S stands for stress. I try to make it as much fun as possible, while not ignoring the seriousness of the situations. Relax, concentrate, and most importantly, have fun!

The PADI Rescue Diver course may also be applicable to earn a college credit, be sure to discuss this option with your counselor.

The PADI Divemaster Course

Well, well, well! You think you have what it takes to proudly call yourself a “Divemaster”? With hard work, dedication, enthusiasm and my humble help, you will achieve that and more! The PADI Divemaster course teaches you to become a Pro and leader in the diving world. This course focuses on your already existing skills and expands upon them, as well as builds on the responsibility you have first experienced in your Rescue Diver Course to become a professional diver that can guide and assist in teaching (as well as teach a little). You have to be 18 years old or older, be a certified Rescue Diver (with PADI or any other recognized diving organization), you need 40 logged dives, have an Emergency First Response and CPR training no older than 24 months and lastly a medical statement that you are fit for diving. I also recommend you calculate more time for this course, as I want you to be a part of the diving center and the diving community in general for at least a month or more, to get field experience and learn the day to day activities a Divemaster performs. Now let me walk you through step by step how the course is structured and what it involves:
  • Role and characteristics of a Divemaster: the definition of what it means to be a Divemaster.
  • Supervising dive activities and assisting with student divers: I can give you a thousand books to read on diving, but that does not guarantee that you will be a good diver. Most of the skills, both social and diving, come from experience.
  • Diver safety and risk management: very important. I will teach you what you should always focus on and how to improve your safety awareness, as well as, how to perform risk management.
  • Divemaster conducted programs and specialized skills: here we will focus on what you can do as a Divemaster.
  • Business of diving and your career: here we will talk a little about what the diving industry is all about, how you can earn an income as a Divemaster, possibilities to advance into the Instructor rank and more.
  • Awareness of the dive environment: pretty self-explanatory.
  • Dive setup and management: in this part I will teach you what a Divemaster does from the moment he enters the dive center for a nice diving day till the end of the day where we have a good time with our fellow divers.
  • Mapping an Open Water site: time to bring out your artistic side! I want nothing but the Mona Lisa of diving maps! You will be responsible for measuring distances, depths and a lot of other fun additions. I can’t wait to see that atrocity… I mean beauty of a map!
  • Conduct dive briefings: Here I will teach you to involve humor and fun to make your dive briefings more alive.
  • Organizing a search and recovery project and deep dive: here I will throw a 60-ton anchor in the water and say: go catch it! You will learn a few important knots and learn how to use a lifting bag. You will also plan a deep dive with safety stops and I will put your air management to the test.
  • Conducting a scuba review and skin diver course: as a Divemaster you are allowed to refresh returning divers on their diving knowledge and gear setup. You are also allowed to perform the skin diver course.
  • Assisting with Discover Scuba Diving and leading Discover Local Diving programs: We don’t practice with dummies, we practice with real students. Step by step you will have more and more duties and responsibilities.
This course does not only teach you how to become a better diver, but also many important skills in the social interaction aspect. Truth be told, when I did my Divemaster I learned a lot about myself and pushed myself out of the comfort zone. Ready to claim the coolest title in the entire dive industry? The Divemaster rank awaits you, it’s up to you to accept the challenge!
