About Corona Divers

At this point you are likely asking yourself, what on Earth is a Corona Diver? What do they stand for? How did it all start? No? Well, since you are already here, you might want to read it anyway. Let’s start with the basics. We established ourselves in 2020, a year many will remember being rather different. Many diving centers sadly had to close due to the Corona crisis and diving all around the globe was drastically reduced. We at Corona Divers rose like a Phoenix from the ashes and are on our way to building a worldwide community of divers that can share their passion and interact with the diving community during and after the crisis. It is neither a secret nor far-fetched to say that the diving community includes amazing, exceptional and friendly people from all parts of the world. The goal of this website is to give them a chance to interact with each other and share their experiences, photos, videos, diving spot tips, environmental activities, job opportunities and much more, all in one convenient place. You may think our name is based on the Corona Virus, that is only partially true… we were some of the few that got to dive during the pandemic, so yay us. More importantly though, Corona literally translates into “crown” from both Italian and Spanish, and that is who we are. We are crown divers, we are the elite of the diving world, even when we are not. When you float up to the surface it’s just an example of what NOT to do, so others can learn. Being a Corona Diver means to wear a crown, but never forget what really matters: the passion that connects us all to protect, save and explore the underwater world. As such, as a Corona Diver you will have the responsibility to not only act according to the law of common sense but go above and beyond in terms of human and environmental interaction, diving skills, awareness of health, stress management, risk assessment, self-discipline and most importantly: having fun. You must also be able to recite our sacred code of inspiration without error and with passion: "Wohoo! I saw a fish!"
